About us

RNTC is a unique training institute for young and mid career journalists, programme-makers, print and online media professionals as well as media trainers and senior managers. We provide short, life changing courses in Hilversum, The Netherlands, as well as on the spot. We also provide tailor-made training for media organisations.

Established in 1968 as a joint initiative of Radio Netherlands Worldwide and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, RNTC has gained considerable expertise in the development of media and in the role media can play in society, especially in the developping world and in so called countries in transition.

Unique courses
This has led to the design of unique courses such as 'Facts and Formats', focussing on creative ways to combine broadcast formats to inform and educate specific target audiences. Or 'Inside International Justice': a course which combines the gathering of journalistic skills with gaining thematic knowledge.

Innovative in the fast changing media world
At RNTC we are keeping abreast of the fast changing world of media by expanding the number and types of courses we offer. We are innovative both in the subject matter and in the method of delivery. This includes a new range of short(er) and more specialised thematic courses such as 'Multimedia Journalism and Water', an increasing attention to new and social media, and a growing emphasis on multimedia journalism and production as well as on cross-medial ways of working.

Courses open to everyone
RNTC welcomes participants from all over the world. Mixing participants from North, South, East and West proves to work excellently.

Following a short course is a flexible and cost-effective way to increase your own or your staff’s knowledge and skills while temporarily residing in the Netherlands. The courses are compact and intensive by nature. They emphasise interaction and require active contribution from both participants and lecturers.
